For all your dental needs visit Peel Park Dental Practice

Here at Peel Park Dental Practice in Bradford we offer an extensive range of NHS and private dental treatments. We aim to prevent damaging effects of tooth decay, gum disease and other oral health issues by treating them early. From fillings to tooth extraction we aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible on your visit to us.

What dental services do we offer?

Dental examination- shows how healthy your mouth is, after the examination you and your dentist will discuss the results and plan the best way to deal with any problems.

Scaling & Polishing - plaque is a soft sticky substance that builds up on your teeth, mostly made up of bacteria. If plaque is left to build up, the bacteria in it can cause gum disease. Tartar (also known as calculus) formed by hardened plaque, helps plaque to gather and makes it harder to remove when you brush your teeth. You can't remove tartar just from brushing your teeth alone, but a dentist or hygienist can remove it using special instruments - this is known as scaling. A dentist/hygienist can also polish your teeth, this can remove some stains from tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes. If you thoroughly brush your teeth at home, this will mean your scale and polish will take less time.

Silver fillings - a filling replaces part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay or accidental damage. Silver fillings are made of amalgam - a mixture of mercury with other metals, such as silver, tin and copper. Amalgam is soft at first but quickly becomes very hard once placed in the tooth.

White fillings - a filling replaced part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay or accidental damage. You may hear the dentist talk about composite, glass ionomer and compomer, these are different types of white fillings.

Extractions - a tooth which is very decayed, damaged or loose because of gum disease may have to be extracted (taken out of your mouth) Wisdom teeth sometimes have to be extracted if they have come through at an awkward angle and are causing problems.

Root canals - this treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system). It is also known as endodontics. The infection is caused by bacteria that lives in the mouth and invades the tooth. This can happen after tooth decay, leaky fillings and damage to teeth as a result of trauma.

Crowns - the crown of the tooth is the part visible in the mouth, an artificial crown is used to protect and restore a broken, weakened or heavily filled tooth. They are also used to improve the appearance of discoloured or crooked teeth. Crowns are made of many different materials including metals and ceramics.

Veneers - is a thin layer of tooth coloured material that is put onto the front of the tooth to make it look better. This is done because the tooth might have been damaged by decay or an accident, or might be badly discoloured. Veneers are usually made out of porcelain by a dental technician.
Scaling and Polishing
Fixed bridges - a bridge fixes a replacement tooth (or teeth) to one or more remaining natural teeth, or implants. Some bridges have crowns at each end and others are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap. Sometimes the bridge is only fixed to one side of the gap. Bridges are made of metal and porcelain or sometimes just porcelain.

Dentures - a removable denture replaces missing teeth, partial dentures replace a few missing teeth and full or complete dentures are needed if all the natural teeth are missing. Complete dentures are best made from acrylic (plastic), partial dentures can also be made wholly of acrylic, alternatively they can consist of acrylic teeth on a light metal alloy base, this type of partial denture is more secure/less bulky but also more expensive.
